Juni is het International Pride Month, in dit kader organiseerden Hello Zuidas en VU Pride het event Pride Cinema Zuidas op donderdag 8 juni bij Rialto VU. Goodbye Stranger het filmdebuut van queer regisseur Aaron Rookus werd vertoond. Maggie Leroux deelde in haar kleurrijke verschijning filmsnacks uit, daarnaast waren er spetterende optredens van Eve Fatale & Jamal Le Coq. Bustie La Tish heeft met humor het event gehost. Na afloop werden er snacks & bites geserveerd in Bar Boele. Er werd nog lang nagepraat en geborreld.
June is International Pride Month. To celebrate this special month, Hello Zuidas and VU Pride organised the event Pride Cinema Zuidas at Rialto VU on Thursday June 8th. The movie Goodbye Stranger was shown – a debut of queer director Aaron Rookus. Host Maggie Leroux handed out movie snacks in her colorful appearance, there were dazzling performances by Eve Fatale & Jamal Le Coq. Bustie La Tish was the lovely moderator that evening. Afterwards, snacks & bites were served at Bar Boele.

“Wat een heerlijke snelle film. De verhaallijn is een beetje oppervlakkig, maar dat is ook wel weer lekker aan de film. Leuk hoe Amsterdam is gefilmd, het is heel herkenbaar! Ook de muziek was fijn, en past goed bij de beelden.”
“What a wonderful and fast paced film. Even though storyline is a bit shallow, I must say that this also had its charm. It was nice to see how Amsterdam is portrayed, since it is very recognizable! The music was also fitting, and it combined well with the setting and images of the movie.”

“Interessant hoe je de stad ziet door de ogen van anderen. Ik woon zelf ook in De Pijp en de beelden van de stad zijn heel herkenbaar. Ik kan het koppelen aan mijn eigen ervaringen. Het verhaal kreeg een andere wending dan verwacht, dat was heel verrassend. Het event is geweldig! Heel leuk dat op deze manier veel mensen samen komen op Zuidas.”
“Interesting how you see the city through the eyes of others. I live in De Pijp myself and the images of the city are very recognizable. I can link them to my own experiences. The story took a different turn than expected, which was very surprising. The event is great! It's fantastic to see that so many people come together at Zuidas in this way.”

“De film vond ik niet zo, te cliché. Maar het programma van het event was té gek. Vooral de optredens waren geweldig. Ik was onder de indruk van het evenement. Het was goed georganiseerd en leuk om veel mensen te ontmoeten.”
“I didn't like the movie because it too cliché for my taste. But the event program was stunning. The performances in particular were great. I was impressed by the how the event was set up. It was well organized and fun to meet a lot of different people.”

“Ik vond de middag heel leuk en positief. Ook was het event goed georganiseerd en vooral de moderator Bustie La Tish deed het goed. Ze heeft het programma met humor gepresenteerd. Fijn was dat het event ook gericht was op expats; het was heel inclusief. De film was leuk en pakte anders uit dan verwacht. Ik vind de locatie Rialto VU ook tof. Ik was er nooit geweest, maar kom zeker een keer terug.”
“I really enjoyed the afternoon and this experience with Pride Cinema Zuidas. The event was also well organized and especially the moderator Bustie La Tish did an outstanding job with keeping the audience entertained. She presented the program with humor and wit. It was nice that the event was also aimed at expats; it felt very inclusive. The film was fun and turned out differently than expected. I also like the Rialto VU location. I have never been there, but will definitely come back.”

“Ik kijk samen met Niek Rood van VU Pride en collega’s terug op een topevent! Toen we elkaar ontmoette afgelopen november tijdens het jubileum van Hello Zuidas hadden we direct een klik. We wilde samen een leuk project opzetten en daar is Pride Cinema Zuidas uit voortgekomen. Juist de mix van studenten, onze members, bewoners en andere geïnteresseerden is leuk om te zien."
“Niek Rood from VU Pride and I can claim with confidence that this was a very successful event! When Niek and I met last November during the anniversary of Hello Zuidas, we immediately clicked. We wanted to set up a fun project together and Pride Cinema Zuidas exceeded all our expectations. It is the mix of students, our members, residents, and other interested parties that made this evening so unique."

Ook Niek Rood is enthousiast over het event. “VU Pride is enorm blij dat we samen met Hello Zuidas tijdens de Pride Month al deze mooie en kleurrijke mensen op onze campus bij Rialto en Bar Boele hebben mogen ontvangen. Het laat zien dat LHBTQI+’ers overal op de Zuidas aanwezig zijn, bij de VU, in de woontorens en natuurlijk de kantoren. Het was een inspirerend en verbindend evenement en we kijken trots samen uit naar de toekomst!”
Niek Rood is also enthusiastic about the event. “VU Pride is very happy that we, together with Hello Zuidas, were able to welcome all these beautiful and colorful people on our campus near Rialto and Bar Boele during Pride Month. It shows that LGBTQI+ people are present everywhere on the Zuidas, at the VU, in the residential towers and of course the offices. It was an inspiring and connecting event and we are proudly looking forward to the future together!”
