The project: the role of endolysosomal failure in tau pathology

Alzheimer's Disease (AD) pathology is characterised by amyloid-beta plaques and neurofibrillary tau tangles, as well as defects in the endolysosomal system. How these pathological hallmarks are connected is largely unclear. We have previously found that tau pathology causally disturbs the endolysosomal function. In this project, you will investigate how seeding tau pathology in mouse and human neurons induces these endolysosomal aberrations and how this could lead to tangle formation and neurodegeneration.
